Music Programs at New Hope

Music at New Hope is a vital part of worship.

The Choir sings from mid August into June and the first Sunday of each month in the summer.

Choir rehearsal is 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening.  We gather to warm up on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., 30 minutes before worship.  We sing a variety of anthems from unison to four part classical to contemporary.  The choir helps lead worship through hymns, anthems, Psalters, corporate prayers, solos and responses.

Barry Krueger is our Director of Music Ministry and Organist. He just happened to be at the right place at the right time. We were looking for an organist and he was looking for a church that needed an organist. Timing is everything and we are truly blessed to have someone with so much talent come to us just at our time of need. Barry began playing for churches at the young age of 16. He attended Oral Roberts University with the intention of studying German but music got the better of him. He became the Assistant Audio Engineer for Mabee Center, a 16,000 seat facility on the campus of ORU, and got deeply involved in working on the Oral Roberts television show. He also worked on national television specials with a number of famous personalities including Mel Torme, Robert Goulet, Roy Clark, Pat Boone and Jerry Lewis. He later became the Audio Manager for Oral Roberts Ministries, producing and engineering all ministry broadcasts and doing the majority of the announcing for the television and radio shows. Composing original music for television themes and commercials was also part of his duties. In 1994 he made a career move and went to work for CITGO Petroleum Corporation as the Special Projects Audio/Video Director. In addition he has his own production company BKM Productions, which does a variety of things such as corporate video music scoring, record albums, performance tracks, voice-over work and digital video productions for a variety of clients. His work with CITGO brought him to Houston two years ago and he has been searching for the right church ever since, till fate brought him to our door. Please make Barry feel welcome and take the time to get to know him. He has a lot to offer and we are so very pleased to have him be part of our church family.

The organ at New Hope is a digital electronic instrument by Rodgers Instruments with MIDI (Musical Instrumental Digital Interface) and playback system.  It was given in memory of Charlene Dice Mother and Grandmother of the James Clemens Family and was first used in 1998.  Our Handbells are by Schulmerich Carillons Inc.
